The accelerated MSA 4+1 program allows students to earn both a bachelor of science in business administration (BSBA) and a master of science in accounting (MSA) in five years.* The program is designed to meet the needs of students who want to continue on to graduate school immediately after earning their undergraduate degree. Accepted students will take 12 graduate credits as part of their undergraduate program, leaving 18 credits to complete their MSA degree. Students who complete the MSA 4+1 program have a competitive advantage in securing staff accountant positions at public accounting firms.

The Accounting concentration prepares students for careers in public accounting, corporate accounting, and graduate study by developing strong analytical, critical thinking, and communication skills. 

Students gain a comprehensive understanding of accounting principles through coursework in financial accounting, managerial accounting, auditing, taxation, and accounting information systems. The curriculum explores how organizations record, analyze, interpret, and communicate financial information to support business strategy, regulatory compliance, and operational performance. 

Through internships, leadership opportunities, community engagement, and interaction with professional accounting organizations, students gain practical experience and professional connections within the accounting field. Supported by a strong alumni network working in regional and national accounting firms, graduates are well prepared for careers in public accounting, corporate finance, auditing, consulting, and related business professions. Completion of the Accounting concentration also satisfies the educational requirements to sit for the CPA exam. 

The corporate finance and accounting concentration prepares students for high-impact careers at the intersection of financial strategy and accounting policy and practice. It is a cross-functional concentration designed for students who want to understand how organizations manage money, evaluate performance, and make strategic financial decisions. 

Students develop a strong foundation in financial analysis, accounting principles, and corporate finance, gaining skills in areas such as business valuation, financial analysis, risk management, and cash flow planning. Through hands-on coursework and experiential learning opportunities, students learn how to interpret financial data and apply it to real-world business decisions.  

Students graduating with a concentration in corporate finance and accounting are equipped with the technical competence and judgment and communication skills that distinguish successful finance and accounting professionals. They are well positioned for careers in corporate finance, corporate accounting, and consulting. 

Every business decision has financial implications including allocating capital, assessing risk, valuing an asset, and creating financial plan and strategy. The finance concentration prepares students to make financial decisions by developing strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.  

Students gain a broad understanding of financial concepts through courses in corporate finance, investment analysis, and international finance. The curriculum explores how firms raise capital, manage resources, create value, evaluate investments, and navigate financial markets. Students master financial analysis, asset valuation, risk management, and financial planning. 

Through hands-on projects, financial modeling, simulations, and real-world case analysis, students learn how to apply financial theory using industry-standard databases in the Cabot Wealth Management Lab. Graduates are well prepared for careers in corporate finance, investment banking, portfolio management, consulting, and commercial banking within both domestic and multinational organizations. 

Financial well-being depends on thoughtful planning, informed decision-making, and the ability to adapt to changing financial goals and life circumstances. The financial planning concentration prepares students to help individuals and families achieve long-term financial success by developing strong analytical, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills grounded in ethical and client-focused practices. 

Students gain a broad understanding of personal financial planning through coursework in investment management, retirement planning, taxation, estate planning, insurance, and risk management. The curriculum explores how financial professionals evaluate client needs, develop comprehensive financial strategies, manage wealth, and support long-term financial security. Students learn portfolio analysis, retirement income planning, tax-efficient investment strategies, estate and legacy planning, insurance evaluation, and risk assessment. 

Through applied projects, case studies, and client-centered financial planning exercises, students learn how to translate financial theory into practical solutions for individuals and families. As an approved CFP Board Registered Program, the curriculum satisfies the educational requirements for the Certified Financial Planner (CFP) exam, allowing graduates to pursue CFP certification without firm sponsorship. 

The master of science in accounting (MSA) program is designed to prepare accounting students for management positions in accounting. The program will build on the knowledge and tools from the students’ undergraduate education, allowing them to achieve a greater degree of sophistication in accounting, auditing, and tax. The MS in accounting degree will provide students with the knowledge and skills necessary to have successful careers in public and private accounting. 

The graduate certificate in accounting (GCA) program offers online and on-campus courses. It is designed for professionals that hold a bachelor’s degree in a non-accounting discipline who would like to develop a solid foundation in the core competencies of accounting. Consisting of five comprehensive accounting courses, our program provides students with the opportunity to gain the knowledge, confidence, and skills needed to be competitive in the global marketplace.
