Welcome to Academic Advising! Our office is committed to providing students with guidance and support as they explore the academic opportunities available to them and understanding their degree requirements to reach graduation. We are full-time professional advisors who are available to students all year round!
Spring 2026 Advising and Registration
The academic advising office is here to help you prepare, plan and register for the 2026 spring semester. Whether you’re meeting with your faculty advisor, checking holds, or finalizing your schedule, everything you need is here.
- October 16-November 5: Students are required to meet with their faculty advisor (in their major) to be advised and identify courses for the fall semester - don't forget to use Academic Planner in N360! !
- Review your Degree Tracker Report in Navigator (what requirements are not satisfied).
- Meet with one of our Peer Advisors to create an Academic Plan and prepare for your faculty advisor appointment (schedule a Prepare for Faculty Advising appointment through N360).
- If you are changing your major, make an appointment to meet with a professional advisor in .
- Check to see if you have any holds that need to be resolved ()
- November 4 -7: Registration period is opens. Be sure you know your appointment enrollment time.

Overview of Services
Students benefit from a mentor/mentee relationship by meeting regularly with the professional advisors to check in on their progress and goals and discuss any other concerns related to their academics, and connect them to countless resources throughout their journey at Salem State!
Meeting regularly with a professional advisor, students:
- plan and understand their academic program programs
- ensure they are meeting degree requirements
- guide students through major exploration
- explore options before making personal and academic decisions
- identify various resources at Salem State
- provide holistic support to students who are experiencing academic difficulties
- discuss their long-term educational goals
