Bad Bunny and Post-Maria Puerto Rico - 12:15-1:15 pm
On the anniversary of when Hurricane Maria impacted Puerto Rico in 2017. Maria not only devastated the island but exposed the impact of the ongoing colonial status. Bad Bunny became the voice of PR in the aftermath of this climate event, addressing infrastructure concerns, community, resistance and resilience. Now as a global superstar, he brings his spotlight to the island at an important historical moment.

In Search of Phillis Wheatley Peters - 1:30-4 pm
The Salem State University English and History Departments present a screening of In Search of Phillis Wheatley Peters, a 35-minute short film that reveals the little-known love story of Phillis Wheatley鈥擜merica鈥檚 first published Black poet鈥攁nd John Peters, a free Black man she married in 1778. Drawing from the groundbreaking scholarship of historian Dr. Cornelia Dayton, the film brings new archival discoveries to life, revealing the couple鈥檚 struggles for autonomy, dignity, and survival in Revolutionary-era Boston. Featuring insights from leading scholars and poets, the film reimagines Phillis not just as a literary icon, but as a woman who chose love, partnership, and resistance against extraordinary odds.

Join Tanisha and Ch茅 Anderson, Chair of the Massachusetts Cultural Council, for a fireside chat exploring how arts and culture strengthen civic engagement, foster public dialogue, and inspire a more inclusive, creative, and equitable democracy. Learn how you can use art as a tool for advocacy for finding and amplifying your voice, connecting with others, and creating change.

Speaking Scars, Tattooed Texts - 6-7 pm
Join the 麻豆成人精品 for Holocaust and Genocide Studies for a talk by 麻豆成人精品 Elyse Semerdjian, the author of Remnants: Embodied Archives of the Armenian Genocide (Stanford University Press, 2023). In this talk, 麻豆成人精品 Semerdjian will discuss her research on "embodied archives," a feminist critique of archival practice in Armenian Studies. She will examine how physical and material remnants, such as scars and tattooed texts, function as historical records, challenging conventional notions of what constitutes evidence of violence against Armenian women victims of the Armenian Genocide.

Meier Hall Ribbon Cutting Ceremony and Open House - 5-6 pm
Join us in the Meier Hall Lobby (outside Dunkin') as we celebrate the ribbon-cutting for Melissa Stratton Pandina and Gabriela Sep煤lveda Ortiz's "Chronicles of Salem Change Makers. The ribbon-cutting will take place at 5 pm, followed by an Open House with refreshments and an opportunity to connect with the artists. We hope you'll join us in honoring this exciting addition to our campus community!

Dance Guest Artist Lauren Horn - Movement Workshop - 12:15-1:30 pm
Dive into a diverse movement vocabulary as you explore the interdisciplinary world of Modern Scramble. In this class we will utilize a blend of movement and text-based prompts to increase our physical and verbal dexterity. Through warm-up, phrase work, and improvisational score, we will begin to build a greater awareness of our physical and mental limits. For this class bring your whole self, and a journal. As we will be working on our ability to speak while dancing, come prepared to use your voice.
Lauren will present an Informal Artist Talk immediately following this class from 1:40-2:55 pm All are welcome!
