Certain freshmen applicants who are denied admission to Salem State University may be offered the opportunity to participate in a deferred admission reverse transfer (DART) program with participating Massachusetts public community colleges.



These students are guaranteed admission at a later date, provided that they meet program requirements.



Participating community colleges include; North Shore Community College, Middlesex Community College, Northern Essex Community College and Bunker Hill Community College.

Three main benefits of DART:

• You have guaranteed admission to any program at the university (except for nursing, fire science, occupational therapy, art, theatre–BFA, music)
• You will transfer in at least 34 credits from the MassTransfer Block
• You will automatically have your credits transferred back to your participating community college so that you can receive your associate’s degree on your way to a bachelor’s degree

Requirements

 

• Enroll in a Commonwealth of Massachusetts public community college
• Complete the 34 credits from the Mass Transfer Block (please be aware, a student can transfer at the most 68 credits from a two-year institution)
• Earn a cumulative grade point average of at least 2.5

When it is time to transfer (DART eligibility expires after 5 years of high school graduation):

• Adhere to our admissions deadlines. Salem State follows a rolling admissions process and we continue to accept applications until an academic program is filled.
• Provide a Commonwealth of Massachusetts public community college official transcript that documents 34 completed credits, a 2.5 cumulative grade point average, and the “MassTransfer Block” stamp from the community college.
